1. Data Collection & Privacy Protection

WaterCue is designed to keep your hydration records private. We collect limited app analytics data, including product interactions, coarse location inferred from IP address, and performance data. This data is used to understand app usage and improve reliability. It is not linked to you for tracking, not used for advertising, and not sold.

2. Local Data Storage

Your water logs, hydration targets, cup shapes, reminder times, and preferences are stored in the app's local sandbox and shared App Group storage used by the Home Screen widget.

3. iCloud Sync Explanation

When you manually enable "iCloud Sync" in the settings, your water log data can be synchronized across devices signed into your personal Apple account using Apple's iCloud CloudKit platform.

We do not have our own cloud servers, so we cannot access, read, view, or modify any of your data synced to iCloud. You can turn off this feature at any time through the iOS system settings and delete the corresponding backup from the cloud.

4. Permission Usage

Notification permission: Only used to send local push notifications to remind you to drink water within the time window you set. We never use this permission to collect information or push commercial advertisements.
Apple Health (HealthKit): When you manually enable "Apple Health Sync" in the settings, WaterCue writes your water intake records to the Apple Health app on your device (dietaryWater) so your hydration history appears in Apple Health. WaterCue only writes data and never reads any data from Apple Health. Permission is requested only when you enable the feature, and all data stays on your device — we do not collect or transmit it.

5. Analytics & Tracking

We do not collect your water logs, health data, contact information, precise location, photos, audio, messages, purchases, or browsing history. Analytics data is used only for product analytics and app stability, not for advertising tracking.

6. Changes to Privacy Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. The updated privacy policy will take effect once published.
